Pirate Themed House

Hired to finish another artist’s start of a pirate ship on a wall. The vision changed, and the client hired Rich to continue through the entire basement. Minnesota. Everything handmade and painted, completed over about five months in multiple trips.

The Idea

A wall that had already been started — and a better ship waiting underneath it. Then a whole basement that wanted to be the same world: hull, sails, map, bar, and figure.

The Build

The ship rebuilt as dimensional carpentry, then painted into a sunset. Stern gallery, figureheads, black sails. A Skull Island map. A pirate at full height. A bar with millwork, copper, and a portrait on the wall. Hand-made, start to finish, over five months of trips.

The Result

The Pirate Themed House. Not a mural on a wall. A basement that became a ship.
