The Idea
Not a portrait of a horse. A presence. Something that looks back. The work began as a question about weight — how much history a surface can hold before it becomes a body.
The Build
Oil, metal leaf, and chemical oxidation built up until the canvas stopped behaving like canvas. Impasto, scrape, gild, oxidize, repeat.
The Result
A painting that occupies a room the way sculpture does. The horse is not decoration. It is a witness.
